MISC Fedora Core 18 x64 notes

Vmware setup on FC18.x64 in KDE

When tried to start vmware I get an error message about missing kernel headers.
I installed all kernel.headers & other kernel.devel packages

Still got the error

I researched and found the answer

sudo cp -rp /usr/src/kernels/3.8.3-201.fc18.x86_64/include/generated/uapi/linux/version.h    /usr/src/kernels/3.8.3-201.fc18.x86_64/include/linux/
Then start it

This solved the kernel.headers problem

Dual monitors in FC18

FC18 KDE will not remember my dual monitor configuration
I set it to left-of and it keeps going back to either right-of or clone
I know the problem is the /etc/X11 config files but these are not used by default in the newer versions of Fedora

I could create them but before I spent the time I tried the simple.
I swapped cable connections on the computer :-)
